"The bridge from Washington to Australia is not yet complete so driving to see these lights is impossible. All of these designs were made possible by new friends in Australia. The Cape Otway Lighthouse at the northern end of The Eye of The Needle (see the needle in the design?) was the oldest operational lighthouse with unbroken service on the mainland Australian coast until it was decommissioned in January 1994. Both Lady Bay lights were moved in 1872 to provide better service. Cape Banks has a rare 14 sided lantern that was actually transferred from Cape Northumberland. The stories and shapes of the Australian lights are so intriguing."
