When Mariann entered the Trivia contest she named Minot’s Ledge as her favorite lighthouse. I knew of the lighthouse known as “The Lover’s Lighthouse”. The signal is one long, space, 4 long, space, three long—I LOVE YOU. Mariann sent her photo and I digitized the lighthouse. But it needed a frame-a heart-as did the lighthouse of Ralph Rose who just passed away. And the other frames?? Well, of course Round Island needed a circle and Kilauea a flower and…And of course a frame with 50 stars for the 50 states—in 6 or 4 inch size. How about a star frame for those little athletes??
You can use the lighthouse designs, your own 4 inch designs, or photos or fancy cut fabric in the frames. Use them alone or make a wallhanging. Make 6 inch squares or 4 inch squares. This is reverse appliqué so read the how-to carefully. Yes, you stitch the design or center the fancy cut fabric and then cover it with the frame. It works! Mariann tested it on Minot’s Ledge and Gail has stitched the designs for a wallhanging—her first quilt. I stitched the designs to give as gifts and also the 4 and 6 inch squares for a photo wallhanging.
