NHV Lighthouse Stamps

"Hereford Inlet lighthouse in New jersey has an exact twin in California-Point Fermin. Both were built in 1874. Imagine one overlooking the Pacific and one overlooking the Atlantic and we actually stood at both of them on the same trip. Fort Story is the home of Cape Henry Old and New lights. Alexander Hamilton appropriated the money for the construction of the Old light. The Confederate forces extinguished the light during the civil war but Union forces restored it. A big part of our joy in seeing the lighthouses is the history lessons and personal stories they tell.
