Suggestions: This design can be appliqued onto kitchin towels, place mats, kitchen curtains, or used to make a bright wall hanging for your kitchen. Color choice will depend completely on your choice of applique fabric - plain or printed fabric, cotton or satin - try to avoid fabric which frays very much. I like to iron fusable vilene onto the reverse of the fabric, to check fabric fraying. Use contrasting or co-ordinating threads.

Color Changes
=============
1. Stitching line to mark posistion of lemon
2. Tack-down stitching line for lemon applique fabric
3. Tack-down zigzag for lemon applique fabric
4. Satin outline for lemon
5. Green - lemon stem and leaf

1. Hoop your fabric with tear-away stabilizer.
2. Stitch color no. 2 - this will mark the position of the pear
3. Place applique fabric over marked out line, making sure that the entire outline is completely covered.
4. Hold the applique fabric in place and stitch down - be very careful not to get you fingers in the way of the stitching needle!
5. Carefully remove the hoop from your machine but DO NOT REMOVE THE FABRIC FROM THE HOOP.
6. Cut as closely as you can to the outside of the stitching line.
7. Place the hoop back in the machine and stitch the zig-zag tack down line. If there are areas where the fabric has not been cut close enough, remove hoop from machine again and trim excess applique fabric, but be very careful not to cut the stitching line.
8. Now stitch the satin cover stitch of pear.
9. Stitch the pear stem.
