There is a pen pocket in the back as well as a pocket for storing a calendar or extra papers. The journal is kept closed when not in use through the means of an elastic strap. You can use decorative elastic or make your own fabric covered elastic (instructions are included for doing so).

The front patches are constructed as part of the in-the-hoop process. The patch edges are finished off with decorative stitching. Also included in your download are 4 single designs you may add to the patches, if you wish: a fringed flower, 2 lacey butterflies, and a small frog. The journal design comes in two versions: One with the word journal embedded; the other with the center left blank. Shown on our cover is Omas Places Tiny Rosebud font, which echoes one of the decorative borders. Please note: the journal used is a 6x8 journal refill, for sale at Barnes and Nobles online and in store.
