Cape Byron Lighthouse holds the distinction of being on the most easterly point of Australia. It is also the most powerful lighthouse in Australia. Cape Jaffa is a Wells Screw Pile built in England and shipped to Australia for assembly. It operated until the lighthouse was built at Robe and April 1, 1973 Cape Jaffa was turned off and Robe turned on.
