I am Michele,
owner of MM Embroidery Designs. My husband and I live in Junction
City, Oregon. My husband is a native Oregonian whose family settled
in the Willamette Valley before Oregon became a state. We have two
daughters and five grandchildren, and we spend all our spare time
enjoying our family, our home, and our garden!
I have been sewing since I was three years old, and I have had my
own custom sewing business for 25 years, specializing in weddings
and heirloom sewing. In 1999, I went to work for Janome America as
an educational coordinator, and have traveled all around the United
States, teaching sewing and embroidery, and creating projects for
advertising, magazines and the Janome website. Currently, I am a
freelance consultant for the sewing industry, and continue to enjoy
teaching in the Pacific Northwest and creating projects for the
embroidery enthusiast. You can find my projects on the Janome
website, and in a number of sewing magazines, including Creative
Machine Embroidery, Quilting & Machine Embroidery, Sew News, Woman's
Day Budget Decorating, and Janome Digest.
My interest in digitizing started with a handheld scanner and hand
drawn colour separations, long before there was software available
for the home embroidery enthusiast. I have software certifications
in Bernina Artista software and Janome's Digitizer program, both of
which are Wilcom based digitizing software. I started creating
original embroidery designs for the projects and classes I teach,
and was happily accepted into the Oregon Patchworks family a year
ago. Most of my designs are created in the process of project
development, so many of the design collections featured on my page
create a finished product, such as the embroidered tissue box covers
created from the Country Cottages Collection and the Row House
Collection.
I am looking forward to expanding my collections, and have some new
designs in the finishing stages. Look for Monkey Shines in the near
future, an adorable collection of sweet little monkeys, appliquéd
numbers, and sayings; and also, a collection of art deco floral
medallions which will include designs for the large hoops such as
the Pfaff Grand Hoop, Janome GigaHoop, and the Bernina Mega Hoop.
